1.1 These requirements cover electrically operated gas detectors intended for installation in residential occupancies and recreational vehicles (RVs). 1.2 These requirements cover gas detectors intended to detect flammable gases such as propane and natural gas. 1.3 These requirements also cover all remote accessories that may be connected to a gas detector. 1.4 These requirements do not cover gas detectors for use in hazardous locations, as defined by the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70, for industrial or commercial use, or for use as smoke and fire detectors.
