The A5931GLPTR-T is a three-phase sensorless fan driver IC designed for server fan applications, using sinusoidal modulation to reduce audible noise and vibration. It supports closed-loop speed control with EEPROM-based configuration and includes an I2C serial interface for programming. The device is packaged in a 16-lead TSSOP with an exposed thermal pad and operates over a temperature range of -40 to 105 °C. It provides motor phase current capability up to 3 A and features soft start, rotor lock detection, and shorted load protection. Thermal resistance is specified at 35 °C/W on a two-sided PCB with 1 in² copper area.
This integrated sensorless driver minimizes fan noise, vibration, and uses sinusoidal modulation and closed-loop speed control to ensure quiet and efficient operation, eliminating the need for Hall sensors. Available in automotive and commercial grades.
