The MAX30 linear encoder is designed for non-contact, absolute position measurement in hydraulic cylinders of mobile machines, using magnetostriction technology. It features a 30 mm housing with a 10 mm installation space and a 30 mm damping zone, compatible with hydraulic operating pressures up to 320 bar. The electronics operate from -40 °C to +105 °C, while the hydraulic fluid can reach up to +95 °C. Available interfaces include analog voltage/current, PWM, CANopen, and SAE J1939. The unit is housed in stainless steel (1.4305 and 1.4404), sealed to IP67 (with IP69k for the M12 connector), and uses a 4-pin or 5-pin M12 connector depending on the interface. The measuring range is 50 to 1,500 mm in 1 mm steps, with a typical resolution of 0.1 mm and linearity of ±0.25 mm (up to 500 mm) or ±0.04% F.S. (500 to 1,500 mm).
The MAX30 linear encoder enables non-contact, completely integrated and absolute position measurement in hydraulic cylinders. Suitable for use under extreme ambient and operating conditions in applications in mobile machines. The innovative technology of magnetostriction offers high reliability, expanded diagnostic functions and well as a considerable reduction in operating costs. The 30 mm housing can be easily installed in the existing cylinder construction. All in all, linear encoders from SICK impress with their attractive cost-benefit ratio.
