XP06 is a hazardous location, explosion-proof, spring-loaded thermocouple assembly designed for use in classified areas where ignition hazards exist. The assembly features a 316 stainless steel sheath and an ungrounded isolated junction, with a spring mechanism that ensures 1/4" compression for positive thermowell contact. It is CSA certified for Class I Division I & II, Groups B, C, D; Class II Division I, Groups E, F, G; Class III; and IP66 when installed in a thermowell. The unit is compatible with aluminum or stainless steel explosion-proof connection heads and includes a flame-path design to contain internal explosions. The "S" dimension is specified at installed length, accounting for spring compression.
Explosion-proof (XP) thermocouples and RTDs are designed for use in hazardous locations in refineries, storage facilities and gas processing plants. These sensors are built to extinguish flames inside the device, eliminating the potential for ignition of flammable mixtures in the surrounding atmosphere.
Depending on the construction desired, these sensors are FM and CSA approved for installation in Class I, Division I or II environments.
