The Model 455, uses two sensors to monitor the status of the main belt and the feeder belt. The sequence circuitry shuts down the feeder belt whenever the main belt is not running at 80% of calibrated speed. The slippage circuitry shuts down the feeder belt if the belt speed drops below 80% of calibrated speed indicating possible slippage.
Operation of the Model 455 Dual channel Digital Slip/Seqence Control is accomplished by sensors detecting targets as they pass the sensor head. The sensors send continuous signals to the control unit indicating the speed of each belt. A shut-down relay operates as the number of targets sensed drops to 80% of the level set by calibration. The target is added to idler rollers that are in constant contact with each belt. The Sensor Calibration Buttons are located on the p.c. board. If the main belt stops, for any reason, the signal from the sensor will no longer match that adjustment and the feeder belt will be shut down to prevent gob-up. If the feeder belt begins to slip, its signal will change causing it to be shut down, preventing damage to its belt.
