Newport MKS Fiber Cleaver, Manual, Angled 8 Degree F-CLX-8-3-2

Description
The F-CLX-8-3-2 is the industry's simplest angled fiber cleaver. It is mainly used to remove back-reflections in FTTH applications and specifically for installing field-assembled FAST connectors. It can also be used to attach fiber to photonic chips. The F-CLX-8-3-2 fiber cleaver provides a typical end angle of 8° for SM or PM fiber and has excellent cleave repeatability. Back-reflection of better than -50 dB is achieved. The cleaver has a single stapler-action operation. The blade made from diamond is very long-lasting, easily providing 20,000 or more cleaves. This cleaver is purely mechanical and so can be used in the field without a power source. It uses a 16 mm wide detachable holder and includes a fiber shard bin. Field Angled Fiber Cleaver The F-CLX-8-3-2 Manual Angled Cleaver is designed to angle cleave a single 125 μm diameter singlemode optical fiber with the mirror-smooth, damage-free fiber core. Cleaving a singlemode fiber with the core at 8º from the perpendicular ensures the back-reflection will not be guided back down the fiber, and hence the return loss will be -60 dB or greater. 8° angled cleaves are used in mechanical splices to form a mechanical join for instance in FTTx applications. The cleaver can be used as a field tool or on the benchtop.
