Newport MKS Linear Stage, High-Performance, Low-Profile, 1.81 in. Travel, 1/4-20 433

Description
The 433 translation stage with its large 3 in. x 4 in. platform features exceptional performance, usability, and value with precision ball bearing construction. For stability, repeatability, and exceptionally smooth motion, actuators bear upon a hardened carbide insert. Springs provide preload against the actuator tip to eliminate backlash. Although the stage is capable of traveling a full 1.8 in. (46-mm) with the SM-50 micrometer drive, the actuator mounting blocks can be relocated to accommodate 1.0 in. (25.4) drives like the SM-25. A non-influencing lock provides positive stable positioning and guards against inadvertent adjustments. Actuators for this stage are sold separately. Ball-bearings Provide Smooth Linear Translation Ball bearings in these stages reduce friction compared with rolling motion to guide linear translation. Although the guide ways are externally loaded to eliminate unwanted runout in the bearings, friction remains negligible to provide smooth travel over the entire range. The motion of each axis can easily be locked in place. Designed to be Reconfigured to Left or Right-Handed These extended range stages are designed with symmetrical features allowing them to be reconfigured for left or right-handed operation. This video shows a 423 stage being reconfigured to have the micrometer accessible from the opposite side of the stage. This is needed to allow the stage to be used for vertical travel but is also useful for improving adjustment accessibility. Note, also, that the lock and the micrometer locations can be switched.

Ball-bearings Provide Smooth Linear Translation

Although the guide ways are externally loaded to eliminate unwanted runout in the bearings, friction remains negligible to provide smooth travel over the entire range. The motion of each axis can easily be locked in place.
