National Oilwell Varco Catheads

Description
Model 166B & Model 66S Catheads The Gill Services Model 166B and 66S Catheads are fully enclosed with clutches built inside the cathead itself. The make-up cathead has a 19-1/2" friction facing, giving the cathead 155 square inches of friction surface. The breakout cathead has 16" friction facings and three friction surfaces, giving 366 square inches of friction surface. Easy to get on and off the rods Drums are mounted on a floating, non-rotating sleeve. Bearings are built with exact alignment, eliminating chatter There are no adjustments on Gill Catheads, but spacers are available and may be installed after facings have worn Graduated air valves are a must in operating the Gill Catheads. The graduated air valve allows the driller to control the air pressure to the catheads, thus giving him the desired pull required on the tong. The type of valve used should allow approximately 40% of air pressure in the first 60 degree of lever travel on the valve. The balance of lever travel will go from 40% to 100% of air pressure. Installation of a quick release valve on the cathead as near to the clutch as possible will give instantaneous release of the clutch The backup anchors on the breakout and make-up catheads are fitted with a spring with tension of approximately 30 lbs. This tension pushes the non-rotating sleeve in the opposite direction from the clutch driving plate. Without the proper installation of the anchor and spring tension against the anchor, the drum may have a tendency to crawl. All Gill Catheads are manufactured to rigid specifications and are tested in field conditions Model 56B Air-operated Breakout Cathead Model 56S Air-operated Make-up Cathead The Gill Services Model 56 Cathead is a heavy-duty unit with a cam-operated clutch to handle your toughest jobs. The clutch has an 18" friction facing, giving it 175 square inches of friction surface. The cam clutch is operated by an air actuator which is controlled by a graduated air valve (use only air valve as recommended by Gill Services, Inc). Clutch adjustment is achieved by changing the length of the crowder pins. Proper adjustment enables the clutch to run free while the cathead has maximum pull Mounted on a floating non-rotating sleeve The Model 56 Cathead has three (3) roller bearings on the main shaft, which keep the sleeves and spools in alignment Backup anchors are fitted with springs for tensions of approximately 30 lbs. Without proper alignment of anchors and spring tension against the anchor, the drum may have a tendency to crawl. The anchor post must be mounted to manufacturer's specifications Maintenance on the Model 56 Cathead is simple and requires little time. The grease zerts are located inside the rope spool in a stud and in the stationary sleeve. Grease only once each week with a maximum of two pumps of the grease gun Model 46B Breakout Cathead Model 46S Make-up Cathead The Model 46 Cathead is a heavy-duty unit with a cam-operated clutch to handle your toughest jobs. The clutch has a 16" friction facing, giving it 122 square inches of friction surface. The cam clutch is operated by an air actuator, which is controlled by a graduated air valve (use only air valve as recommended by Gill Services.)
