The NSL-4140-ND is a light dependent resistor (LDR) designed for visible light measurement, specifically sensitive to wavelengths between 400 to 700 nm. It features a hermetic, flat lens TO-18 package, making it suitable for various applications including industrial uses, audio compressors, night lights, photography light meters, solar street lights, and flame detection. This CdS photocell exhibits a decrease in resistance as light levels increase, with characteristics that mimic human eye sensitivity. The device has a light resistance range of 8.4 kOc to 19.6 kOc at 1 foot-candle illumination and a dark resistance of up to 2 MOc. It can operate within a temperature range of -40¬8C to +75¬8C and has a maximum power dissipation of 50 mW. Engineers should note that the NSL-4140-ND is sensitive to ambient light exposure and should be handled with care to avoid damage from physical shocks or extreme temperatures. It is also ESD sensitive and should be unpacked with appropriate precautions.
