These shanks can be converted from standard Ball Lock¬Æ Shanks by replacing the original set screw with a Jergens Thumb Screw or an Elesa¬Æ Adjustable Handle, allowing for quick adjustments without the need for tools. The shanks are made from 4340 steel and feature a black oxide finish, providing durability and resistance to wear. They are heat-treated to a hardness of 40-45 RC, ensuring strength under operational conditions. The operating temperature range for these shanks is from -20¬8F to 400¬8F (-30¬8C to 200¬8C), making them suitable for a variety of environments.
Existing Ball Lock® Shanks can be converted to Ball Lock® Fast Acting Shanks by substituting the proper Jergens Thumb Screw or Elesa® Adjustable Handle for the original set screw.
Thumb Screw:
Fast-acting thumb screws 2 1/2 turns. No tools are needed.
Elesa® Adjustable Handle:
Handle can be moved out of the work area to avoid interference.
