The UCS's variety of chassis and enclosures allow great flexibility in deployment and the assurance that the product at the Central Office/Central Site, POP Site, and Remote locations are identical modules. This reduces maintenance burden, inventory overhead, simplifies training, and reduces the number of items operations and field staff must remember. All of this means lower costs and greater network availability.The 1040 and 1050 Enclosures house a single UCS1000 type (5 RU high) Technology Module (see the Related Products page for a list of compatible products). The 1230 BAM allow the 1040 and 1050 Enclosures to support two of the smaller UCS1002 type (2 RU high) LAN Extension and Modem Modules. The 1040 Enclosure provides an Ethernet Port for Management Network access to the module. The 1050 Enclosure has the ability for external management as all UCS1000 type Technology Modules have Serial Management Ports except passive CWDM Multiplexing Modules.
