Visual DPP digital pen and paper is a solution to integrate your inspection processes with the flexibility of using something as simple as a pen and paper.
How it works
Above is an example digital pen form that has been completed. The pen has been docked in the USB holder and the data transfered and a PDF page is created as above as if it had been scanned into the system. The hand writing also gets converted into digital data, so the result for the first requirement 1.400 ±0.010 is converted from the hand written 1.409, also notice the PASS box has been ticked to confirm the result is within tolerance. If the result is in tolerance then Visual DPP will allow the data to be imported into your actual inspection report which might be for example an AS9102 form 3. Please note the above form is not an AS9102 form 3, rather a version of a form 3 for collecting results. You will note that feature 12 has a scribbled mark in the PASS box and a tick in the FAIL box. The pen records the date and time each stroke is recorded on the page so this can determine when the form was completed e.g. which box was last ticked.
We have built in some mistake proofing rules like the PASS/FAIL tick box to enable the user to get maximum benefit from this technology.
Features
The pen looks, feels and writes like a normal pen, but is a small electronic device with a regular pen cartridge. A small camera is built into the end with infra red emitters. The camera is sensitive to the infra red being absorbed by the unique dot pattern on the paper.
The pen gathers position information from the paper and when docked to your computer (through a USB connection) will transfer all the position information and re-create your document in an electronic format.
The received pen data will also be character read and a conversion into computer readable text will be made.
