The 2007 floods affected 55,000 homes in England. In response to the inability of the drainage infrastructure to cope with the flooding, the Government has implemented policy changes relating to sustainable drainage requirements.
This Information Paper explains the mandatory surface water run-off management requirements for new developments specified in the Code for Sustainable Homes and raises awareness of the compliance requirements to avoid risk of flooding.
