Gilson Elutriation Sieves use gentle air and water agitation for fines removal of specimens through a single mesh size. This is a laborsaving and repeatable alternative to manual wet-washing of soil, aggregate, ore or other samples with conventional wet-wash sieves.
The Elutriation Sieve is a sturdy, thick-walled acrylic cylinder with four vertical openings. The openings are covered with ASTM Testing Grade stainless steel wise cloth. (Use the chart below to specify mesh size when ordering.) Total sieving area is about 12% greater than a standard 8in diameter sieve. A cone-shaped well is machined into the solid base, and an injection tube supplied with the unit directs air and water into the bottom of the well.
Compressed air and running water supplies are required when using the Elutriation Sieve. Dimensions: 15x3.25in (380x83mm), HxID. Each opening is 7x2in (178x51mm). Other mesh sizes of stainless steel wire cloth and nylon or polyester cloth can be quoted on request. The Elutriation Sieve is also available without wire cloth as SV-48.
