FTL Technology Piston Seals

Description
Piston seals maintain dynamic sealing contact between the piston and the cylinder bore of a hydraulic or pneumatic system, sealing pressurised air. They are a critical element to ensure a reliable and efficient system. The pressure which acts on the piston seal is responsible for the increase in contact force between the seal and the cylinder. Seals can be manufactured in PUR, NBR, FKM and filled PTFE materials. As the lubrication conditions in pneumatic cylinders are only marginal, the interface between the seal lip and shaft are especially important. In this respect, seals from FTL Technology are designed to give superior leading levels of performance. FTL Technology supplies both single-acting and double-acting seals (depending on whether one or both sides of the seal are under pressure), with a range of materials depending on the operational demands placed on the seal. As a general rule, nitrile seals perform better in lower temperatures, with fluorocarbon seals delivering better results in higher temperatures.
