The MFPE modulating fan-powered economizer (fka IPVB-ECO) is a mechanical draft fan that integrates a flue gas economizer. It is used in conjunction with any type of gas-fired boilers and water heaters where heat recovery is desired. It is installed in the chimney flue system where it can be exposed to the hot flue gases and still ensure a mechanical draft (negative pressure) in the entire chimney or stack system. For optimal performance the fan speed can be controlled by a modulating pressure control (EBC 12 or EBC 30/35). The MFPE SS is for use with condensing and noncondensing appliances at flue gas temperatures of max. 575°F (302°C). Typical uses are: heat recovery from gas-fired boilers and water heaters. For indoor installation. The MFPE is typically used in applications with a single modulating heating appliance or with multiple heating appliances utilizing a single chimney flue. It is extremely suitable for low-to-mid efficiency boilers equipped with a draft hood or a draft diverter. These units can not utilize a flue gas economizer without mechanical draft.
