Two motor phases are influenced by means of phase control using alternistors in such a way that the currents are able to rise steadily. The drive unit starts without jerking. Mechanical and electrical components are protected and the starting current is effectively reduced. After starting, the alternistors are bridged via internal relay contacts, to minimise losses in the device. The smooth deceleration function prolongs the natural deceleration time of the drive unit and prevents it from stopping abruptly.
