Stainless steel 304 is used for the majority of UHV applications where a bakeout temperature of up to 450 ºC is needed. AISI 316LN stainless steel is recommended for special applications where a harder material, higher bakeout temperature and much lower magnetic permeability are needed: these fittings are available on special order terms.
