Overview
Electrical connectors create a simple electronic interface in electrical systems for power and signal transmission. At Douglas Electrical Components, we enhance your capabilities with the usage of electrical connectors by hermetically sealing virtually any connector available on the market. In our New Jersey facility, we have a team of IPC-620 certified technicians that integrate electrical connectors into various assembly types with a hermetically sealed connection. This ensures that the connector is both liquid and gas-tight, exceeding commonly referenced NEMA and IP ratings.
You have the design flexibility to select virtually any commercially available connector on the market. We then integrate any electrical connection to the connector, including pins, sockets, wires, cables, and other connectors. This can create a plug and play solution that ensures the entire interconnect assembly is sealed and protected. We 100% test all connectors for vacuum pressure and electrical conductivity. Additionally, we can offer pressure testing in-house for up to 12,500 PSI.
Douglas can customize the mechanical interface to your requirements. This includes creating a hermetic feedthrough assembly with a threaded or flanged mechanical interface. The electrical connector, housing and electrical interface are all sealed together to create a complete hermetic package. We specialize in hermetic bulkhead connectors for various industries and applications including those with critical requirements and harsh environments.

FAQ
What is an Electrical Connector? What are Sealed Electrical Connectors?
An electrical connector is an interconnect device to transmit power or signal. Electrical connectors are designed with various performance and environmental ratings depending on the application, industry, and available space.
The sealed electrical connectors are available for more challenging conditions. Traditionally, the sealed terminology refers to the fact that the connection is rated to operate in conditions such as exposure to liquids or gases. Douglas Electrical Components uses a proprietary hermetic epoxy to hermetically seal electrical connectors in both vacuum and positive pressure environments. The epoxy bonds directly to the connector housing as well as the electrical connection to prevent any moisture, air, or gas from penetrating the connector.
Does Douglas offer High Pressure Electrical Connectors?
Yes. Douglas can manufacture a hermetically sealed electrical connector that is rated for high pressures. Hermetically sealed electrical connectors can include a mechanical interface such as a bulkhead NPT thread or radial O-ring seal to reach pressures exceeding 10,000 PSI. Contact Douglas with the high-pressure electrical connector specification and we will partner with you to meet the mechanical and electrical specifications for designing made-to-order hermetic electrical connectors.
What Types of Hermetic Electrical Feedthrough Connectors are Available?
Douglas can hermetically seal virtually any commercial connector on the marketplace and convert it to a hermetic electrical feedthrough. We seal connectors of all shapes, sizes, and ratings to create hermetic solutions. Customers can choose their own connection or we can recommend electrical connectors based on the application and specifications.
