The A 1T 6-N324008 is a 32-pitch molded worm gear with 40 teeth, a bore diameter of 0.2500 inches, and a #8-32 set screw for shaft retention. It features a mineral-filled nylon gear and a brass insert, with a face width of 3/16 inch and a hub diameter of 5/8 inch. The gear is designed for right-hand meshing with compatible worms at a 14-1/2° pressure angle and operates at right angles to the mating worm shaft. Its outside diameter is 1.312 inches and hub projection is 5/16 inch.
A worm gear pair, or worm gear set, consists of two gears: the worm, which resembles a spiral screw, and the worm gear (aka, worm wheel).
For the pair to mesh, the worm and worm gear must have the same pressure angles, modules, and lead directions (left- or right-hand).
A worm revolves on a shaft that’s perpendicular to the worm gear and the shaft angle is typically 90°. Because the teeth gradually mesh as the worm rotates, there is low noise and low vibration.
