Bentley Hevacomp's lighting design programs are integrated so that lumen lighting, point to point calculations, glare, daylighting, uplighting and emergency lighting can be carried out on common room data from the project database. The lighting programs also integrate with the mechanical load calculation package, enabling CAD input to be used throughout. Rooms can be drawn on screen using the graphical features of the package, if required. Luminaries are positioned graphically and luminaire grids can be generated automatically onto tile layouts. Internal obstructions can be included. Lighting results can be numeric, grid values, graphical contours, shaded diagrams and histograms. Vertical luminance can be computed. A 3D visualization module is available, which enables lighting levels on all surfaces within rooms to be viewed from any angle with surfaces rendered to give surface luminance. Bentley Hevacomp provides and maintains an extensive database of luminaire and source data. Data, including polar curves, is currently provided for over 18,000 luminaires. Floodlighting for external areas can be computed by positioning towers and lamps from the floodlighting database provided. Lighting energy can be computed for controlled lighting systems using ON/OFF, dimmers or manual switching. The need for lightning protection can be assessed using the method in BS 6651 and the required protection, exposure levels and isolation distances are computed. A passenger lift design package is provided for multi-storey buildings, based on probability equations and using a database of standard lift configurations.
