ATLANTA Drive Systems, Inc. Universal Joint 70 52 720

Description
Ball-and-socket joints Ball-and-socket joints are very compact in their design and can be installed in cases where space is limited. Due to their sturdy design they are suitable for high-power transmissions. The maximum speed is dependent on the working angle and should not exceed 1000 rpm. The maximum working angle for single joints is 35°. With angles greater than 15° only low speeds should be used. Cardan joints (DIN 808) Universal joints (cardan joints) are particularly suited for high speed power transmission. The speed limit depends on the working angle. The maximum working angle for all types of joint is 45° (90° in the case of double-jointed cardan joints). Where angles of more than 20° (40°, respectively) are involved, only very low speeds should be used. Standard-design cardan joints can be used up to 2,000 rpm, joints equipped with needle bearings up to 4,000 rpm. Joints supported by needle bearings are usually only employed for speeds of more than 1,000 rpm.
