ABB Measurement & Analytics Dynamic Reflux Sampler DRS2170

Description
The DRS2170 solves complex sampling problems (such as hot, particulate laden, corrosive and otherwise nasty samples in a process for application engineering. The primary sample conditioning occurs in an in-situ fashion. Condensable components are removed and are used to support particulate removal before they can present problems in the sample transport system’s downstream components and the analyzer. The unit is a self-contained sampling device suitable for mounting at or near the process pipeline tap. Whether the solution is used for gas chromatographs, continuous gas analyzers, photometers or other analyzers with difficult sample conditions, the DRS2170 provides: High sample throughput Clean sample provided to the analyzer Self-cleaning Temperature control precision Optimum control with set-point tuning Hazardous area certification

Datasheet Summary
Powered by GS/AI

The DRS2170 Dynamic Reflux Sampler is designed for obtaining representative samples from challenging process environments, such as those found in ethylene cracking and ammonia production. It operates as a self-contained unit that can be mounted directly at or near the process pipeline tap, facilitating in-situ sample conditioning. The sampler effectively removes condensable components, particularly water, which is crucial for preventing issues in downstream analysis systems like gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. This device features a fixed temperature distillation process, utilizing a vortex cooler controlled by an electronic temperature controller to maintain precise sample temperature. The DRS2170 is capable of handling high sample pressures and is constructed from durable materials, including 316 stainless steel, ensuring reliability in hazardous environments. It is certified for use in Class I, Division 1 areas and meets various safety standards. With a temperature control precision of ¬±0.5 ¬8F and the ability to manage sample flow rates of 2 to 5 LPM, the DRS2170 is suitable for applications requiring high sample throughput and clean samples. Its design minimizes maintenance needs due to its simplicity and few moving parts, making it a practical choice for engineers seeking a robust sampling solution in demanding conditions.
