Conventional UV low-pressure lamps made of quartz glass provide excellent efficiency. 40% of the electrical power can be used as 254 nm UVC radiation to disinfect water and air.
If synthetic quartz glass is used as the lamp material, 185 nm UV radiation (vacuum UV) is emitted in addition for oxidation processes such as the decomposition of pollutants, odours and greases.
