Design & Development
We employ a rigorous Design & Development process in compliance with our quality certifications. A typical project follows the below procedure:
- Consultation with our engineering staff to define your requirements
- We develop a conceptual design and present it to you. For larger projects, the conceptual design is developed into a functional design, then reviewed again with you
- Upon your approval, a detailed design is developed, reviewed, manufactured, and tested
Whenever possible, we build risk reduction prototypes to prove out the most challenging aspects of a project before the final production.

Founded in 1952, Trelleborg Sealing Solutions was previously a part of the Smiths Group's precision seals business. This business, Polymer Sealing Solutions, consisted of four rubber units. These were Busak+Shamban, Dowty Automotive, Shamban and Forsheda. In 2003, Polymer Sealing Solutions was acquired by Trelleborg AB.
