Coated Optical Fiber

An optical fiber’s ability to perform in the field is often influenced by the type of polymer coating over its glass core. Fiber optics function in many environments with just a primary coating. Environments such as oil and gas sensing, however, may demand a secondary coating to provide additional protection during cable assembly and deployment.
More industries rely on fiber optics for communication and sensing as well as a host of growing applications. Zeus offers an array of coating options to make fibers more robust in applications that require additional mechanical strength and resistance to radiation and abrasion. Zeus has the ability to coat fiber optics with polymers such as PEEK, PFA, ETFE, PVDF, and FEP.
PEEK Coated Optical Fiber
Where strength is important, PEEK coated fiber optics add mechanical integrity and structural support. The coating also imparts high abrasion and chemical resistance, has a heat tolerance to 500 °F (260 °C), and is resistant to gamma radiation.
