3M,Ñ¢ Scotch-Weld,Ñ¢ Thermoexpandable Adhesive Film AF 3090 TEF is a modified epoxy adhesive film designed for bonding metal to metal and composite materials. It cures at temperatures ranging from 250¬8F (120¬8C) to 350¬8F (180¬8C) and exhibits excellent bond strength, impact resistance, and peel strength. The film expands during the curing process, providing effective gap-filling capabilities and making it suitable for applications involving mismatched surfaces, core splicing, and edge-finishing of sandwich structures. The adhesive film is available in two thicknesses: 50 mil (1.27 mm) and 100 mil (2.54 mm), with a typical expansion range of 40-70% at 250¬8F and 60-120% at 350¬8F. It has a non-sag property, making it easy to apply without the risk of dripping or running. The product is also noted for its durability and flexibility, which helps to dampen impact forces and resist cracking. For optimal performance, surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned and prepared prior to application. The film has a suggested shelf life of 12 months when stored at -18¬8C (0¬8F) or below, and it can remain stable at room temperature for up to 20 days under controlled conditions. This product is particularly advantageous for aerospace applications where structural integrity and reliability are critical.
Highly toughened, epoxy-based thermo-foaming film system, co-curable with composite material and designed for edge finish of sandwich panels and complex gap filling.
Designed for exterior applications. Highly toughened edge finish core splice for exteriors. Edge finish of sandwich panels. Expansion of the product during cure enables also excellent gap-filling properties, filling of mismatched areas, core splicing or reinforcing honeycomb cores.
