3M SandBlaster sanding sponge uses aluminum oxide as the abrasive material. Comes in a fine abrasive grade. 3M incorporates this aluminum oxide material into the sanding sponge forming a grit of 180. The sanding sponge has a width of 2 1/2 in and length of 3 3/4 in. In addition to the other aspects of these parts, another important component of these is the thickness. This 3M part has an overall thickness of 1 in.
