3M 1181 Tape is a copper foil tape featuring a 1-ounce deadsoft copper foil backing and a conductive pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive. It is designed for applications requiring excellent electrical conductivity, making it suitable for grounding and EMI shielding in various equipment and environments. The tape is available in standard and custom widths ranging from 1/4,Äù to 23,Äù and has a standard length of 18 yards. The total thickness of the tape is 2.6 mil (0.066 mm), with a backing thickness of 1.4 mil (0.04 mm). It exhibits a breaking strength of 25 lb/in (44 N/10mm) and adhesion to steel of 35 oz/in (3.8 N/10mm). The electrical resistance through the adhesive is 0.005 ohm, and the tape has been tested for flame retardancy, passing UL 510 standards. Typical shielding effectiveness ranges from 60dB to 80dB across frequencies from 30 MHz to 1 GHz. The copper foil backing is solderable and resistant to oxidation and discoloration, enhancing its durability in various applications.
