The SSX suspension is constructed from a proprietary polymer, rather than a metal one-piece dome and surround, enhancing the reliability and eliminating fatigue stresses that destroy traditional driver diaphragms. Furthermore, Acoustic Beryllium has the highest stiffness to density ratio of all commercial dome materials, reducing the mass of the diaphragm’s moving parts.
This low mass greatly improves responsiveness while the high stiffness maintains rigidity over a wide frequency range. Consequently, the "breakup" associated with the mechanical deformation of traditional dome materials at their resonate frequencies is eliminated.
