PSI sets the industry standard for spindle evaluation and repair procedures. Our comprehensive evaluation begins with the tear down, cleaning and inspection of every spindle assembly that comes into our facility. We then measure all I.D. bores and shaft bearing areas for wear and concentricity, and we check quill, pulley and drive areas for wear and run out. We follow with a written evaluation and quotation before any repairs are performed.
Upon your approval, we resize all bearing areas as needed to ABEC-7 bearing tolerances or better. Our extensive use of precision Barden bearings brings our actual tolerances to an ABEC-9 level, and we further enhance performance through the use of lighter weight, ultra-precision ceramic bearings where appropriate.
We repair quill areas, precision balance rotating parts to ISO spec. GO. 4. and reassemble the spindle. Each spindle is then tested and monitored on an isolated test stand for a specified run-in period. Your spindle assembly can be tested at either maximum RPM or its usual running speed, and is monitored and measured for displacement, velocity, acceleration and spike energy with our IRD 880 vibration analyzer.
