This family of Photologic® slotted optical switches, from Optek Technology, include a variety of options from a standard housing. These non-contact slotted optical switches have a range of different slot widths, output logic states, output driver circuits, aperture widths, aperture surfaces and mounting tab locations. There is also a combination of PCB mounted or wire lead options. The device housing is an opaque plastic which reduces sensitivity to both visible and near IR light that could effect operation. The devices with a covered aperture offer protection against dust whilst open aperture offers better protection against ambient light interference. Suitable applications for the OPB960, OPB970, OPB980 and OPB990 slotted optical switches include, speed/direction indication, rotary encoders, mechanical switch replacement, mechanical limit indication, printers and sliding door automotive.
