The ME-7 Series Embeddable Inductive Linear Position Sensor from Alliance Sensors Group is designed to be a drop-in, form, fit and function replacement for magnetostrictive sensors but with a much more robust construction and at a lower sell price and cost of ownership. Available in Ranges from 2" to 36", the ME-7 was designed to specifically target embedded industrial or subsea hydraulic and pneumatic actuator and cylinder applications. The ME-7 Series is based on proprietary, contactless inductive sensing technology that employs a unique solid 7mm diameter probe construction and only requires a simple conductive tube target (or simply the gun drill ID of the cylinder rod) for operation, rather than a magnet or some other special target type.Resembling a magnetostrictive sensor with a sensor head and a sensing rod but with a shorter stroke to length ratio, the ME-7 can be embedded into the same location that is configured to accept a magnetostrictive sensor and for applications where the ME-7 is replacing an existing magnetostrictive sensor, the magnet can be left in place and will not affect the performance of the sensor. Being contactless the ME-7 Series is not subject to wear and experiences no output signal deterioration over the life of the sensor.
The ME-7 48mm OD housing is the same configuration as typical magnetostrictive sensors. By using an inductive coil rather than wires and "time of flight" technology the ME-7 can withstand much greater shocks and vibrations.
