LyTherm® 1535-GC Abrasion Resistance Paper is a lightweight refractory composite composed of an inner core of spun, high purity alumina-silica paper quilted with a durable textile cladding. The core material is recommended for continuous use at temperatures up to 2300ºF (1260ºC), and will remain intact even if the 1200ºF (650ºC) textile cladding burns away.
LyTherm® 1535-GC is designed for use in applications where abrasion resistance, thermal shock, high strength, and compression resistance are important. LyTherm® 1535-GC was also the first insulation backup material specifically designed for rotary kiln applications. Previous attempts to use papers as refractory backup in rotary kilns failed because the product lacked sufficient integrity to withstand the compressive stresses applied as the kiln rotates. LyTherm® 1535-GC Paper is designed to not only withstands these stresses but to insulate effectively against the costly heat loss associated with rotary kiln operation. LyTherm® 1535-GC Paper is completely immune to thermal shock and also absorbs the mechanical stress caused by rapid temperature changes in the outside environment, thus increasing the life of the refractory. This efficient insulation also minimizes the thermal gradient in hard refractories and allows the lining to wear thinner before a retrofit is necessary.
LyTherm® 1535-GC is firm yet resilient which allows it to conform to irregular surfaces found some older kilns, and makes it extremely easy to install.
