Product Overview
The 800 MHz Longitudinal Balance Bridge (NH16455) is designed to measure the degree of unbalance to ground on balanced
systems, cables and components such as CAT 6 or CAT 7 cables
or patch cords per ITU-T Recommendation O.9.
*North Hills Application Note 156 - “Measurement of Conversion
Loss in Balanced Systems” provides further information on the
subject of Balance to Ground and techniques for its measurement.
Interfaced with a 50 ohm Network Analyzer, the 800 MHz LBB measures the ratio of transverse signal resulting from imperfect
balance as a result of a common mode (longitudinal) applied
signal. Figure 1 on page 2 shows a typical test circuit for a
one-port balance measurement. The result of the one-port
measurement is known as “Longitudinal Conversion Loss “ (LCL). The Bridge comes with test and reference Terminations for bridge calibration.
The LBB generator and monitor ports are industry standard
female BNC and N-type plug. The balanced test terminals are
sockets.
